Recycling
With landfill space dwindling, finding a cost-effective way to dispose of the mountain of asphalt and concrete waste it generated annually provided the opportunity for Perrin Asphalt and Concrete to expand its business.
In May 2008, Perrin launched PK Crushing, a concrete and asphalt recycling business, which now recycles 100% of the concrete and asphalt taken from Perrin work sites.
The company also provides concrete and asphalt recycling services to other contractors. With its portable crushing unit from Eagle Crusher Co., PK Crushing can recycle concrete and asphalt on-site or accept clean material at its dumpsite in Akron, Ohio.

The company uses the reclaimed concrete and asphalt to produce 304 ODOT spec recycled aggregate that meets the LEED Green Building Rating System for use of post-consumer recycled material. The recycled aggregate is available to contractors for pick-up or delivery.
In addition to solving the landfill space issue and providing an environmentally friendly construction material, using the recycled concrete and asphalt aggregate for construction applications reduces the cost of stone base by as much as 40% compared with virgin stone base.
